For the first time ever, SHACC is offering approximately 100 deaccessioned surfboards from its world-leading collection to the public. Some are rare collector's pieces. Others are still ready to ride. All deserve a second chapter.
Robert August and Mike Hynson are the two surfers in The Endless Summer — the 1966 Bruce Brown film that took surf cinema from beach screenings to a national theatrical release. August joins SHACC for an evening of conversation about the production, the travel, and the unexpected sixty-year afterlife of a film that almost never got distributed.
“Bruce told us to just be ourselves. We had no idea what that meant. So we did it for nine months, on five continents, and that was the movie.”
