Privacy Policy

Last updated September 24, 2026

The Surfing Heritage and Cultural Center (“SHACC,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through shacc.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information you give us

  • Newsletter sign-ups: your email address (and name, if you provide it).
  • Donations and memberships: processed by our partner Qgiv (Bloomerang). We receive your name, contact details, and gift or membership information; card details are handled by Qgiv and never stored by SHACC.
  • Event tickets: sold through Ticket Tailor, which shares your name, email, and order details with us.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email, including partnership, private-event, and research inquiries.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies to understand how the site is used and to measure our outreach. These may include:

  • Google Analytics — aggregate usage statistics (pages visited, device, approximate location).
  • Google Ads — measuring whether our ads lead to visits, sign-ups, or gifts.
  • Meta Pixel and Conversions API — measuring our Facebook and Instagram outreach. When you sign up for the newsletter, a one-way encrypted (hashed) version of your email may be shared with Meta to match that sign-up to an ad; Meta does not receive your email in readable form from us.

How we use information

  • To send the newsletter and updates you asked for.
  • To process and acknowledge donations, memberships, and ticket orders.
  • To respond to your inquiries.
  • To understand and improve the website and our programs, and to measure our outreach.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate (such as Qgiv, Ticket Tailor, our email and website hosting providers, Google, and Meta), when required by law, or to protect SHACC and our visitors.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
  • Manage ad personalization at adssettings.google.com and in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences.
  • Ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by contacting us below.

Children

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
