“"This trippy, beautiful 1973 film took the camera inside a wave for the first time, impressing waxheads and terrifying at least one very high journalist."”

George Greenough
Bringing viewers into the barrel for the first time
Crystal Voyager remains the single most influential piece of inside-the-wave cinematography in the history of the sport. George Greenough's water-housing footage — shot mounted to the underside of his kneeboards through the early 1970s — is the visual template for everything that came after.
This screening uses a SHACC archival print, sourced from a 16mm reduction held in the original Greenough estate materials. Projection by hand from a Bell & Howell projector. Conversation with Sam George follows the screening.
Reserve in advance — seating is limited.
$25 general · $15 members · Members receive priority seating up to 24 hours before the screening.
