Marks took to the waves with such gusto that at 16, she was the youngest competitor ever, male or female, on the World Surf League's Championship Tour. "This is my dream, like seriously, yeah," Marks said. "You could say, 'Hey, what do you want to do for the rest of your life; anything you want, your dream job?' I'm definitely doing it. It's definitely a dream for sure." Marks credits her brothers for pushing her along. She first rode a surfboard when she was 4 but didn't get serious until she was 9. In 2018, her first year on tour, she had three third-place finishes in 10 events, was named rookie of the year and finished the season ranked seventh in the world. In December 2019, she finished second on the WSL Championship tour to Carissa Moore. By finishing second, Marks earned a spot on the team for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, along with Moore. In 2023, Marks won her first world title, which qualified her for the 2024 Paris Olympics in Teahupo’o, Tahiti, where she brought home the gold medal.
